MOURNING
Robert Goulet died yesterday. I learned about the event via a text message around midnight from a friend that is familiar with my impersonations of the crooner. I hoped it wouldn’t be true. Yet, upon arriving to my desk this morning, my email inbox had more bad news that confirmed the fact that ‘Mr. G’ had indeed left the building.
Him and I never met, but I felt like I knew him. If I felt that way, I can only assume that others felt the same. A man like Robert Goulet was a multifaceted treasure, an actor, a singer, a dancer — a true triple threat. I extend my thoughts and sympathy to his family. He will be missed my millions. I simply regret that I didn’t have the opportunity to meet him in person or, at the very least, see him in action live on stage.
I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to pay homage to him last Halloween. Katherine suggested last week that I go as Goulet again this year, but he didn’t make it and neither will I.
